Motorola is not my hot favourite. But, having witnessed some of the finest smartphones that it has produced in the last couple of years, I must say, Moto deserves a big round of applause. The brand's latest offering is the new Moto X Style- a great-looking smartphone that has lived up to my expectations. I was gifted the Moto X Style on my birthday and here's what I feel about it:
Design & Display: This phone is an absolute stunner in terms of design. It has a refined design, with a sleek and elegant build. The Moto X Style features a giant 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, added with tiny bezels around the screen. The Moto X's display looks stunning and sharp, with super-bright and excellent viewing angles. To be honest, I feel like a proud owner of this super-sophisticated and classy phone.
Chipset: The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based Moto X Style is powered by a six-core Snapdragon 808 processor, clocked at 1.8GHz paired with 3GB of RAM. I haven't noticed any software lag while browsing the web or while streaming videos. The Moto X Style's overall performance is fine and smooth.
Camera: The phone packs a 21MP rear camera (f/2.0), and a 5MP front-facing camera with flash. The camera doesn’t focus well at close ranges; hence it takes blurry shots at times. But last week, I managed to take some decent shots at a party that was good enough.
Battery: The other feature that really dragged it down was the phone's battery life, which was quite weak. It packs a 3000 mAh Li-ion battery that struggled to last for a day over heavy use. Hence, it was a bit disappointing.
Storage: The Moto X Style has storage options of either 32GB or 64GB. There's also 128GB microSD support on top of that.
Verdict: The Moto X Style has lived up to my expectations in terms of its design and performance. Since I received this phone as a gift, the monetary factor doesn't matter to me. Overall, it is a decent phone, sans its camera and battery life.
