Details of Samsung Galaxy S8
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the latest Android flagship smartphones launched in 2017. Here are some of the features that should get you interested in it.
Design and Display
After seven years of Galaxy smartphones, Samsung has introduced some design changes into their latest flagship iteration. The front-facing home button has been removed in favor of soft keys. As a result, the screen estate as increased. The dual edge panel now has a seamless design that connects to the back panel.
Samsung has retained the 3.5mm audio jack in the Galaxy S8 smartphone. The Super AMOLED display is 5.8-inches in size. The screen comes with an increased resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels, as compared to the previous generation. The device is 8mm thick and weighs only 155g. The viewing angles of the display are excellent.
The new Galaxy S8 carries the IP68 dust and water resistance capability. The device can be used over 1.5m deep for 30 minutes of duration. For protection, both the front screen and the back panel come with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
On the back, you will find the camera lens, the flash module, and the fingerprint scanner that’s relocated from the front-home button, to the right side of the camera.
The Galaxy S8 still retains the same 12MP camera count on the rear, but with new and improved image sensors. The aperture is still F1.7, which should be sharp enough. The front camera is 8MP with smart autofocus, also aided with an F1.7 aperture. It also features Auto HDR, touch focus, and more. The front camera can record videos at 1440p at 30fps, and the rear camera can record videos up to 4K at 30fps. Other features include HDR and dual-video recording.
Samsung’s latest flagship now comes with either the Snapdragon 835 processor for the US market or the Exynos 8895 Octa processor for the UAE. The CPU is supported by 4GB RAM to run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS with TouchWiz UI. The internal storage, which is 64GB, can be expanded with a MicroSD card.
There is also an iris scanner on the front side and a feature for facial recognition. Users will also be able to count their heart rate and the number of steps with the Galaxy S8. The device supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n and ac standards. GPS standards include A-GPS, GLOSNASS, BDS, and GALILEO. NFC is also a part of the smartphone’s wireless capabilities to support services such as Samsung Pay.
The Galaxy S8 also comes with the support of an accessory called the Samsung DeX. This basically lets users connect the smartphone to a bigger display, and use it as a desktop with the help of a wireless keyboard and mouse.
The Samsung Galaxy 8 comes with a larger 3000 mAh battery under its hood. Unfortunately for some, the battery isn’t removable. The device supports fast charge via the USB Type-C port. Thanks to the new Doze mode and the improved efficiency of the processors, the battery performance is expected to be better than the previous generation models.
