Google's 2nd generation Chromecast plugs into your TV’s HDMI port to stream TV shows, movies, games and more. It is easy to control the TV from anywhere in your house without interrupting what is playing or draining your battery. It has a magnet under it so you can magnetically attach it on the back of your TV, or leave it dangling from the HDMI port. It works excellently without fuss and complex setup.
Design and Build
Google opted hockey puck style round body for Chromecast 2. It has a plastic build featuring the Chrome logo and the Chromecast comes in three different colors: black, red, and yellow. The Chromecast 2 has two slots, one connects to a TV's HDMI port via a flexible cable and the other one is to connect it with the power source. A 4-inch cable is used to attach the HDMI plug to the rest of the Chromecast. It has a magnet to hold the body when not in use and the plug fold neatly against the back of the Chromecast. Its power cable is 5 feet long.
The Chromecast 2 has better connectivity features. It has improved Wi-Fi architecture with a built-in adaptive antenna system. The device supports 802.11ac wireless connectivity. Chromecast has a Fast Play feature that starts preloading content as soon as you open the Chromecast app. Chromecast works with iPad, iPhone, Android phone and tablet, Mac and Windows laptop and Chromebook. The setup process is easy. Attach the power cable and install the Chromecast app on your smartphone, tablet or laptop. When the app is installed and launched on the mobile device it will detect your nearby Chromecast. Then we have to just follow the on-screen commands to connect the Chromecast to your Wi-Fi network and pair it with the device. After this, it is ready to stream. The app shows you all the apps that are compatible with the Chromecast. Popular apps, like Netflix, Spuul, Eros Now, Hooq, Plex etc are compatible. Surprisingly, the HotStar app doesn’t support the Chromecast.
