Details of Sony Xperia XA1
Sony's Xperia range that started off with Windows Mobile OS has moved to Android and is a significant part of the smartphone market today. The company is back in 2017 with a remastered version of the Xperia XA, known as the Xperia XA1. The Xperia XA1, along with the Xperia XA1 Ultra, were first unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2017 earlier this year. The Xperia XA1 "hasn't been designed to compete with its larger counterpart, but it will provide anyone who is looking for an alternative to the Moto Z Play with a viable option".
Design and display: The Sony Xperia XA1 comes with a 5-inch HD display and a pixel density of 294ppi, like the original model, and it looks great. The device features a borderless design to make the most of the edge-to-edge 720p display with a diamond cut like the finish on top and bottom. The most attention-grabbing feature of the smartphone is its high-end camera setup.
It packs the signature Xperia design features, including large bezels at the top and bottom of the display, a side power button and a rear camera lens in the top left corner. It has sleek rounded edges which curve from front to back and offer a comfortable grip, especially given the phone’s relatively compact build. The display is sharp and reasonably vibrant, making it a solid rival to other phones.
Processor and chipset: The Xperia XA1 comes with a 2.3GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor, clubbed with 3 gigs of RAM and 32GB of internal memory which is further expandable via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The dual-SIM phone runs Android Nougat and supports 4G LTE (also VoLTE). It further comes with USB Type-C for charging and data syncing. The device can handle slightly more demanding games and multitasking without any problem or lag. It is an absolute performer, even during heavy or consistent use. Overall, very impressive, fast, responsive and smooth.
Camera: On the camera front, the XA1 comes with a 23-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection and laser autofocus and LED flash. On the front, it comes with an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. Both the shooters are capable of recording 1080p videos. It manages to take fine shots under different light conditions. Especially, pictures captured under the bright light are crisp and full of colour.
Battery: The XA1 has a 2300mAh battery capacity, which the company promises to last for 2 days. The phone has the Qnovo fast charging technology, which not only promises to charge faster, but also preserve battery capacity after several charge cycles.
