Similar to how Samsung, Apple and LG flagship smartphones, there is a new contender in the smartphone industry from Huawei- the Mate Series. The Huawei Mate 10 with world’s first Kirin AI controlled processor and brighter f/ 1.6 aperture dual cameras, and includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that's expandable via a microSD card is a power packed Android smartphone with many stunning features. It is also a supermodel among smartphones with aluminium and superheated corning glass beautifully wrapping the device. It was launched along with the more premium and superior Mate 10 Pro. Next, to its sibling, the Mate 10 costs less, lacks OLED display, sports a bulkier design and does not have water proofing. However, the Mate 10 has its own qualities and even manages to overshine the sibling in terms of display resolution.
Display and Design
The Huawei Mate 10 accompanies a IPS 5.9-inch screen, which is similar to the Mate 9's 5.9-inch screen and has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The aspect ratio of the screen is 16:9, rather than the 18:9 ratio found in the sibling Mate series device passing by the name of the Mate 10 Pro. That being said, however, the 499ppi pixel density of the Mate 10 is far higher than the Mate 10 Pro. The body has a narrow bezel design with a large screen. It also comes with an option of floating navigation dock for navigation and it can be placed anywhere on the screen as you like. Apart from that, it includes gesture options with a single tap to go back, a long press to access home and left or right swipes for the recent app menu. For people who prefer the standard on-screen buttons, they can opt for it as well. However, the device is not dust- and water-resistant. On the rear, you have what Huawei calls its multi-axis curved glass back. It is simply an aluminum frame with a layer of superheated, scratch-resistant glass over it, which envelopes beautifully around the sides of the phone's body.
As the flagships smartphones are expected to come with developments and features to make it among the best devices available upon its arrival, the same can be hoped with the Mate 10. It offers a more drawn out battery life and faster-charging speed. The phone highlights Huawei's most advanced Kirin 970 processor with AI technology, which Huawei claims to be the fastest smartphone processor. The device carries a 4GB RAM and no less than 64GB of internal memory with microSD support of up to 256GB. Unlike the Mate 10 Pro, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the Mate 10 with USB Type-C port.
Huawei seems to compete with Apple with its Mate 10 gadget with Huawei’s Richard Yu guaranteeing the Mate 10 will offer "better-capturing capacity". The Mate 10 offers a dual camera setup with the new Leica Dual Lens. It comes with f/1.6 aperture that lets the users take photos with shallow depth of field, capture excellent details under low light conditions and to capture moving images without blur. The dual sensors consist of- 12MP RGB sensor and a 20MP monochrome sensor. It has Optical Image Stabilization, Dual-LED Flash, PDAF + CAF + Laser + Depth Auto Focus, 2x Hybrid Zoom, and 4K Video Recording on board. On the front, there is an 8Mp shooter with an aperture of f/2.0.optical image stabilization, laser identification autofocus, and stage discovery self-adjust all on board.
Power Management and Software
There is a 4000mAh battery under the hood of the Mate 10 with Huawei’s smart battery management system that enhances the product and processor to accomplish more drawn out battery life. The phone also includes SuperCharge technology with certified 15-level safety by which you get a complete day’s usage by charging for just 20 minutes. The Huawei Mate 10 will dispatch on Android 8 Oreo with Huawei's EMUI 8 over it. The new EMUI enables users to attach the device to a Display Port monitor making it a pocket PC. Additionally, it also supports the split-screen function. Furthermore, Huawei has mentioned that have partnered with Microsoft to develop the Bing Translator which will run on the Kirin API. This Translator application will be installed on the Mate 10. Using it, users can translate text, and even translate objects and signs in real-time using cameras with support from the NPU.
