At the Sony IFA stage, the Japanese company has officially announced their latest Xperia XZ smartphone as the new flagship of the X series line-up. The new device brings forth a new metal design, advanced camera AF system, and the fastest Snapdragon processor on the market.

Sony still prefers to keep the same 5.2-inch IPS 1080p display size as compared to their last true flagship-the Xperia Z5. That said, the display is bigger than the 5-inch Xperia X Performance. The display also features Corning Gorilla Glass protection, and powered by the X-Reality software enhancements for true colors.

While the device is powered by the latest Snapdragon 820 processor, Sony seems to have used only 3GB RAM for the system. A point to be noted is that many other competitors use 4GB RAM with the same S820 processor. Internal storage can be chosen between 32GB (Single SIM) and 64GB variants (Dual SIM). As for the camera, you get an improved IMX300 image sensor with a triple AF system based on color detection, phase detection, and laser. The front camera features a 13MP image sensor, and the main camera with a 23MP module, both backed up by F2.0 lens.

Sony has included a 5-axis SteadyShot optical stabilization, taken straight from their latest DSLR technologies, thanks to Olympus. This will account to counter all types of shakes during photo sessions or video shoots. The battery included in the Xperia XZ is 2900 mAh in capacity with Quick Charge 3.0 support. You also get the convenient fingerprint scanner/power button on the right.

The new waterproof Sony Xperia ZX smartphones are expected to arrive soon next month in the Middle Eastern stores.
