It’s a well-known fact that the Samsung has reserved the S-Pen stylus only for their Galaxy Note series smartphones and tablets. And while the smart accessory was never introduced for their Galaxy S series devices, the upcoming Galaxy S8/S8 Plus smartphones might be the first to get the S-Pen support.
The new report from China claims that Samsung did make a prototype of the Galaxy S8 with an S-Pen port, but then they dropped the idea in favor of the S-Pen being an external accessory. This kind of makes sense since the S-Pen port may likely increase the thickness of the smartphone and that not everyone will be needing the S-Pen.
Since the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is rumored to feature a 6-inch display, the S-Pen will be the perfect companion for those who wanted to have a Note7-like usage. Does this mean that the previous rumor of Samsung’s plan to ditch the Note series is going to be true? We think not. However, we hope that Samsung has figured out to fix the burning battery issues which brought down and halted the Note7 sales.
Samsung is expected to announce the new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphone at a separate event in April 2017.
