Nokia 6 is officially the first Android smartphone from HMD

After securing the exclusive brand licensing of Nokia, HMD Global has officially announced their first Android smartphone called the Nokia 6. The new device is marked as the first step in HMD’s ambition to set a new standard in smartphone design, material quality and innovations.

HMD says that users will see that the Nokia 6 is built with superior craftsmanship. It takes around 55 minutes to machine a single Nokia 6 from a solid block of 6000 series aluminum. After that, two separate anodising processes take place that completes in 10 hours, and the final polishing in no less than 5 minutes.

The smartphone features a 5.5-inch hybrid in-cell screen with FHD resolution. The display is protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass. The processor is the Snapdragon 430 processor with 4GB RAM, running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The internal storage is 64GB. For high-speed downloads, the device comes with the X6 LTE modem.

Nokia 6 also includes dual-amplifiers that deliver 6db louder sound for deeper bass, higher voice and unmatched clarity. Additionally, Dolby Atmos ensures moving audio that seems to flow all around users. The smartphone packs a 16MP camera on the rear with phase detection AF with F2.0 lens, and a front 8MP camera for selfies.

The Nokia 6 is currently scheduled for an exclusive China-only release for 1699 CNY- that’s around AED 900. We have to wait until MWC 2017 to know about the smartphone’s worldwide availability.
