LG Electronics has officially unveiled the world’s first QHD+ smartphone display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The new 5.7-inch screen is likely to be a part of the upcoming LG G6 smartphone.
Interestingly, the new display measures less than 1mm thick. LG quotes that “Due to increasing consumer demands for bigger screens, LG Display developed the 18:9 aspect ratio display to provide more immersive viewing experiences.”.
LG also claims that the outdoor visibility of this new screen has been improved with a 10 % increase in transmittance while bringing down the power consumption by 30%. LG is expected to announce the LG G6 at the MWC 2017 event. Rumor has it that LG will start selling the new devices immediately after the unveiling of the device.
