Microsoft wants to create a foldable smartphone-tablet hybrid

As it happens so, Microsoft has filed a new patent for a tablet device that's foldable to a smartphone. The new foldable mechanism is possible with the help of a flexible hinge.

The flexible hinge structure secures the plurality of the housings of the device. This allows the housings to rotate on an axis with each other for a continuous viewing area of the display. Crazy technology concepts here since it’s a filed patent statement. However, we can only guess that Microsoft is building this device for its Surface line-up of products.

It should be noted that Samsung and LG are also preparing to unveil their own foldable smartphones for the consumer markets later this year.
