HTC Middle East has officially launched their latest, ultra-slim HTC U Ultra and the HTC U Play at an event at the Armani Hotel, Dubai. The two new smartphones possess a new and seamless design, along with sharp cameras and upgraded hardware.
The new smartphones were officially showcased by Chialin Chang, the President of HTC Smartphones & Connected Devices and Nikitas Glykas, the President of HTC Middle East and Africa.
The new HTC U Ultra features a large 5.7-inch Super LCD5 display with an impressive resolution of 1440 x 2560 with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. HTC has removed the 3.5mm audio jack to reduce the thickness of the device to 8mm while weighing just 170g. The device comes with the latest USB Type-C port which can be used to connect the adaptive headphones.
One of the main highlights of the device is the secondary display that can be used to quickly access notifications and apps. The super-slim smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB RAM onboard the device, running Android 7.0 Nougat. The HTC U Ultra will come in 64GB and 128GB internal storage variants with MicroSD card expansion.
The camera of the HTC U Ultra consists of a 12MP image sensor with a bright F1.8 aperture lens. The camera brings in support for laser and phase detection AF with dual-LED flash and optical image stabilization. The camera can record up to 4K @ 30fps. The 16MP front-facing camera can take very bright selfies with 1080p video recording with HDR.
The new HTC U Play features the same thickness of the HTC U Ultra, but weighs only 145g. The display of the HTC U Play is 5.2-inch in size with FHD resolution. The processor in this device is the MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor with 3GB RAM onboard for the 32GB model and 4GB RAM for the 64GB storage variant. The HTC U Play accepts MicroSD card slot for the SIM 2 slot. The front and rear cameras of the HTC U Play features a 16MP image sensor with F2.0 aperture lens. The maximum video capability of the rear-facing camera is 1080p @ 30fps with OIS, phase detection, and dual-LED flash. The HTC U Play also features USB Type-C port and lacks the 3.5mm jack as well.
The battery capacity of the HTC U Ultra is 3000 mAh, while the HTC U Play holds a smaller 2500 mAh battery. The new smartphones offer fast charge support via USB Type-C port (Quick Charge 3.0 for HTC U Ultra). Both the smartphones feature a front-facing home button that houses a fingerprint scanner.
The HTC U Ultra is officially priced at AED 2799 (64GB model), and the HTC UPlay is priced at AED 1799. Both the smartphones will come in Brilliant Black, Cosmetic Pink, Ice White, and Sapphire Blue colors. Both the smartphones will hit the stores by early February in Dubai, UAE.
