Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors has officially announced the company’s plans and availability of their electric cars in the UAE at the World Government Summit 2017. Users will now be able to visit the Tesla AE website and customize their desired car that is expected to be delivered by summer 2017.
Tesla will initially release the Tesla Model S and the Tesla Model X cars, that will have a starting price of AED 275,00 and AED 344,000, respectively. Tesla will be opening their service center in Dubai by July 2017, and a dedicated retail store in the Dubai Mall. Over 26 car chargers are already been installed in Dubai. Tesla plans to open Superchargers in other GCC countries such as Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The company is expected to open a retail store and service center in Abu Dhabi by 2018 next year.
Users will be able to customize the battery capacity, rear-wheel or drive type, enhanced AutoPilot, which costs over AED 19,000, full self-driving capability, which costs another AED 11,500, premium package for another AED 13,400, Smart Air suspension, and more.
After selecting all the available upgrade options on the online store, the Tesla Model S pricing went up to AED 652,050. The expected delivery is Mid 2017.
