During a launch event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Dubai, Xiaomi Middle East with its authorized distribution partner TASK FZCO, has officially unveiled a trio of its latest smartphones that includes the Redmi Note 4, the Redmi 4A, and the futuristic Mi MIX all-screen smartphone. The new devices were showcased on stage by Wang Xiang, the Senior Vice President of Xiaomi, and Steven Wang, the Head of Expansion Marketing, Xiaomi.
Mr. Wang Xiang said “We are very excited to bring Xiaomi’s top-quality smartphones to the Middle East and North Africa, as we believe that they will be a very attractive option for consumers here. Xiaomi has spent the past few years developing countless features and optimizations that enhance the way people use their phones, combining cutting-edge technological innovations and great design while defying price expectations. We are delighted to launch our latest range of devices in the Middle East through our partner TASK FZCO.”
The new Redmi Note 4 is a 5.5-inch IPS Android smartphone with FHD resolution. The device is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor that’s manufactured under the 14nm FinFET process, that should help for low power consumption. The Redmi Note 4 will come in two different RAM/Storage configurations: 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. MicroSD cards can be used in the second SIM card slot of the smartphone. While the device runs on Android Marshmallow OS, it’s expected that Xiaomi will roll out a Nougat update later this year.
The BSI camera of the Redmi Note 4 is 13MP with phase detection AF for fast focusing and can record videos up to 1080p at 30fps. The front-facing camera is 5MP with 1080p video support. The battery in this device is a massive 4100 mAh battery with Micro USB 2.0 charging. The metal body of the Redmi Note 4 weighs only 165g and has dimensions of 151 x 76 x 8.5mm. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will soon hit the market this month in black, gray and gold colors. The 3GB RAM/32GB ROM model will only cost AED 659 and the 4GB RAM/64GB ROM variant for just AED 899.
Xiaomi’s budget smartphone called the Redmi 4A comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display. The weight of the device is 131.5g. The smartphone runs with the Snapdragon 425 processor with 2GB RAM and a modest 16GB of internal storage space. The smartphone also sports a 13MP camera on the rear and a 5MP camera on the front. The Redmi 4A packs a 3120 mAh battery but with Micro USB 2.0 charging. The price of the Redmi 4A is only AED 389 in the UAE and will also be available soon.
Xiaomi also showcased the futuristic Mi MIX smartphone that features phone dimensions that are similar to popular smartphone models such as the Google Pixel and Apple iPhone 7, but with a much bigger screen estate with very thin bezels. The total screen size of the IPS panel is 6.4-inch with 1080 x 2040 resolution. The Mi MIX holds a weight of 209g. The smartphone comes with the latest Snapdragon 821 processor with different storage and RAM options: 4GB RAM with 128GB ROM and 6GB RAM with 256GB ROM. The primary camera of the smartphone is 16MP with phase detection and electronic image stabilization. Up to 4K videos at 30fps can be recorded with the main camera. The front facing 5MP camera is actually placed below the screen on the right side.
The Mi MIX comes with a large 4400 mAh battery with fast charge support via the USB Type-C port. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the rear side. The 256GB model will come with 18K gold plated rings around the fingerprint scanner and the 16MP camera. The Xiaomi Mi MIX will be priced at AED 2999 and will be available to buy by March 2017.
