Motorola at the MWC 2017 event has finally unveiled the budget-oriented Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphone that now comes with a metal construction and 1080p displays. These new devices run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS with Google Assistant.
The Moto G5, which is the base model, features a 5-inch IPS screen, while the Moto G5 has a slightly larger 5.2-inch IPS. Both these devices feature Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Dimension wise, the Moto G5 is 9.5mm thick with a weight of 145g. The bigger Moto G5 Plus which is 7.7mm thick weighs slightly heavier at 155g.
The Moto G5 is powered by a modest octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor, that, of course, justifies for the budget pricing, and a faster Snapdragon 625 processor is used on the Moto G5 Plus. The Moto G5 comes in 16GB or 32GB internal storage variants, which in turn feature 2GB RAM or 3GB RAM, respectively.
That said, the Moto G5 Plus packs 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. However, there will also be 32GB variants as well. While the camera on the Moto G5 is 13MP with F2 lens, the 12MP main camera on the Moto G5 Plus is supported with a brighter F1.7 aperture lens. Both the devices come with the same 5MP front camera.
To keep things running, Motorola has packed the Moto G5 with a 2800 mAh battery, while the Moto G5 Plus comes with a larger 3000 mAh battery. Fast charging is supported with a 10w rapid charger.
The Motorola Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are expected to reach the local UAE stores sometime later this year. The price of the Moto G5 is 199 Euros (AED 772) for the 2GB RAM/16GB model, and the Moto G5 Plus for $229 (AED 841) for the 2GB RAM/ 32GB model, and 279 Euros (AED 1082) for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB model. We will update you on the official UAE prices once it’s out.
