Sony Xperia XZ Premium launched at MWC 2017, features 4K HDR panel and 960fps slo-mo video

Following the roots of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, the company has officially unwrapped a new smartphone called the Xperia XZ Premium that not only is their second model with a 4K display, but also the world’s first to feature 4K HDR support. Sony also has improved the Triluminos display up to 40% brightness as compared to the Z5 Premium.

The 5.5-inch display isn’t only the main highlight of the device, as the Xperia XZ Premium a new camera feature dubbed “Motion Eye” with fast memory, allows users to capture 18 seconds of 960fps slo-mo video capture at 720p. The 19MP camera also features an anti-distortion shutter to reduce rolling shutter effects. The front camera is 13MP.

Covering the smartphone is a “Glass Loop Surface” that covers around the device. It's 7.9mm thick and weighs 195g. The device is also IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal space with Android 7.0.1 Nougat OS. The smartphone also packs a 3230 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support via USB Type-C port.

Sony also unveiled the Xperia XZs that is basically the same old Xperia XZ, but with the new Motion camera feature, along with the 5.2-inch FHD screen and Snapdragon 820 processor. Additionally, the new camera gets the support for a new 5-axis digital stabilization (not optical). The Xperia XZs also features the same 13MP selfie camera with 22mm wide-angle lens.

For now, while the local availability and pricing of the new Sony Xperia XZ Premium and Sony Xperia XZs are yet to be known, we will surely update you once the information is out.
