Sony has unveiled the new versions of their mid-range smartphone called the Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona. Both these smartphones run on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The Sony Xperia XA1 comes with a 5-inch IPS display with 720p resolution. The Xperia XA1 Ultra that comes with a bigger 6-inch IPS display with FHD resolution. The smaller XA1 is 8mm thick, and the bigger Xperia XA1 Ultra is slightly thicker at 8.1mm. The weight of the Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra is 143g and 188g, respectively.
These smartphones are powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor with 3GB RAM for the Xperia XA1 and 4GB RAM for the Xperia XA1 Ultra. Storage options include 32GB for the smaller XA1 and 32GB/64GB for the Xperia XA1 Ultra. Both these devices share the same 23MP camera with F2.0 aperture and phase detection AF support. However, the Xperia XA1 sports an 8MP front camera with F2.0 lens, and the Xperia XA1 Ultra with a higher 16MP camera, along with F2.0 lens and optical stabilization.
The battery on these devices also differs as the Xperia XA1 comes with a 2300 mAh battery, while the bigger Xperia XA1 Ultra with a 2700 mAh battery. It should be noted that the Xperia XA1 features the MicroUSB port and the Xperia XA1 Ultra with a USB Type-C port.
The new Sony Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra smartphones will be released in Black, White, Gold and Pink colors. The local pricing and availability are yet to be decided.
