While Google’s latest Pixel smartphone has definitely impressed a lot of Android fans across the world, the latest news is that the Mountain View company is planning to release the Pixel 2 smartphone later this year.
The guys at AndroidPit happened to have a conversation with Rick Osterloh at the Mobile World Congress 2017. Rick Osterloh, who is the head of Google’s hardware department, said that “There is an annual rhythm in the industry. So, you can count on us to follow it”, “You can count on a successor this year, even if you don’t hear a date from me now”.
Osterloh also mentioned that the price of the new Google Pixel 2 “stays premium”, which clearly indicates to the fact that Google is no longer interested in making good smartphones at affordable prices, like the Nexus smartphones.
While the head of Google hardware department did not mention a release date, we can guess that the device could possibly be launched in Q3 or Q4 of 2017. Specifications and features of the new Pixel aren't known for now, but it’s to guess that the Pixel 2 can come with an improved design, faster Snapdragon processors, and Android O or 8.0 to say the least. We also hope that the new Google Pixel smartphones will feature IP68 water and dust resistance as well.
