Over the last few years, top smartphone manufacturers have been toying with the idea of making foldable smartphones. While we have already seen LG and Samsung demonstrate foldable display technologies in the past, a new report states that Samsung is now getting ready to produce “thousands of prototypes” in Q3 2017.
The company has already demoed foldable display technologies which includes curved, bent, foldable and rollable variants, but the company has yet to showcase a working example of a true foldable smartphone for the mass market. After the working prototypes are introduced, the company will then decide the full production plans after taking feedback from the market and retailers.
Since the expected production is in the third quarter of 2017, we can guess that Samsung could possibly showcase the new foldable smartphone at IFA 2017.
