Sony patents a method to wirelessly share battery power with your friends

Wireless charging is very much in vogue right now as the ability to power up your smartphone without the hassle of wired chargers is ideal to most. Many manufacturers have started implementing wireless charging technologies on their new smartphones, but Sony might be taking it a step further.

A new patent by Sony suggests that it may be possible to somehow charge your phone’s battery by draining power from another phone. This might be done using NFC technology and perhaps even with other devices, not just limiting the concept to phones.

Imagine charging your phone while watching TV by placing it next to your remote. Patents don’t necessarily mean that the technology might come to our mass market in the near future, but it’s a possibility that we’re happy to indulge.
