At the Annex, Burj Khalifa, Sony officially unveiled their latest range of Android smartphones that includes the flagship Sony Xperia XZ Premium with 960fps slo-mo recording, the Xperia XA1 and the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra. Sony also showcased their Xperia L1 budget smartphone that was quietly unveiled sometime back.
The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the world’s first Android smartphone to feature a 4K display with HDR support. The Triluminos 5.5-inch display is 40% brighter than the previous Xperia Z5 Premium. The main highlight of the device is the 19MP Motion Eye camera that lets users record 960fps slo-mo video recording at 720p. Sony also said that they let many influencers to try out the new smartphone’s slo-mo video recording capabilities. The company also let the attenders of the event to take slow-mo video clips such as water falling over them and balls bouncing around them.
The Xperia XZ Premium has a thickness of 7.9mm and weighs 195g. The device is also IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. The smartphone is stated to be one of the first to feature the Snapdragon 835 processor, with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The device runs on Android 7.1.1 OS.
The battery capacity 3230 mAh with Quick Charge 3.0 with USB Type-C port.
The Sony also unveiled their new Xperia XA1 that features a 5-inch IPS screen with 720p resolution, and the Xperia XA1 Ultra with a bigger 6-inch IPS Full HD panel. While both these smartphones are powered by the MediaTek Helio P20 processor, the XA1 comes with 3GB RAM (32GB/internal storage) and the XA1 Ultra with 4GB RAM (32GB/64GB internal storage). These smartphones also share the same 23MP camera on the rear. The Xperia XA1 Ultra comes with 16MP front camera, while the XA1 comes with 8MP front snapper.
The Sony Xperia L1 is an Android budget smartphone that comes with a 5.5-inch display with 720p resolution and narrow bezels. The processor is a MediaTek MT6737T quad-core chip with 2GB RAM that runs Android 7.0 Nougat with 16GB internal storage. The main camera is 13MP and the front camera is 5MP.
Sony did not comment yet on the prices of the new smartphones, but we will be sure to update you once it’s out.
