At the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, Samsung has officially unveiled their latest Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ Android flagship smartphones, featuring an all-new front design with lesser bezels, faster performances, enhanced security and more.
One of the biggest changes of the new Galaxy S8 series is the new Infinity Display that extends from end-to-end, forming a smooth and interrupted continuation towards the aluminum frames. The front home button and the capacitive buttons are completely replaced with soft keys that extend the display further. The soft home key brings out haptic feedback when pressed. The Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch Infinity Display and the Galaxy S8+ with a larger 6.2-inch screen size, both of which are Super AMOLED panel with 1440 x 2960 resolution.
Samsung has also introduced improvements with its 12MP Dual Pixel camera sensor on the rear, featuring an aperture of F1.7, and can record 4K video at 30fps on both the smartphones. The 8MP selfie camera also comes with an aperture of F1.7. The camera app comes with improved low-light performance, impressive image filters, a Pro mode that lets users tune the shutter speed, exposure, and white balance. The selective focus helps users to choose the depth of field after capturing the image. Samsung has shifted the fingerprint scanner to the rear side of the device, next to the camera module.
The new smartphones come with the latest 10nm Exynos 8895 Octa core processor with 4GB RAM on the device to run Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The new processor is 10% more powerful with a 50% faster GPU than previous models. Support for Vulkan API is a plus point for enhanced gaming performance. The internal storage is 64GB with MicroSD card expansion.
Samsung will also be bundling the Galaxy S8/S8+ with the AKG earphones, along with the added support of high-quality 32-bit PCM and DSD64/128 playback support.
The Galaxy S8 smartphones also come with IP68 certified water and dust resistance. The battery capacity of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ is 3000 mAh and 3500 mAh, respectively.
The new smartphones also feature the iris scanner on the front and facial recognition capability.
The new smartphones will be available in Midnight Black, Arctic Silver, Maple Gold, Coral Blue, and Orchid Gray colors.
