Harman Kardon Invoke speaker with Microsoft Cortana launched to take on the Amazon Echo

Microsoft in partnership with Harman Kardon enters the smart assistant speaker market to take on the likes of Google and Amazon.

It looks like Cortana will finally be reaching many homes and living rooms as Harman Kardon has officially announced the Invoke smart speaker with Microsoft’s personal assistant installed. The new Invoke is capable of accepting and making Skype calls to other Skype-enabled devices, landlines, and cellphones.

The metallic Invoke speaker features three woofers and three tweeters that are capable of projecting an immersive, 360-degree audio experience, more than what the Amazon Echo offers. Invoke with Cortana will allow users to control their compatible smart home devices in their home by just their voice, such as turning off the lights or controlling the temperature. This is possible thanks to the SONIQUE voice recognition technology.

With Cortana already used by over 145 million people across the globe, Microsoft aims to bring their smart assistant to more homes as possible with the new Invoke speaker. The Harman Kardon Invoke will be sold in Pearl Silver and Graphite Black colors. While the Invoke is expected to release this fall, the price of the new smart speaker has yet to be officially announced. There is also no word on the availability of the Invoke speaker for the UAE market. As of now, the Invoke is scheduled to release only in the US.

It happens so that Amazon is also preparing a new generation of Echo speakers with a touchscreen video display and a new design that doesn’t look like a cylinder.
