Apple iPhone 8 3D Touch components are reportedly expensive to make


While previous rumors suggested that the Apple iPhone 8 will have a starting price of $1000, a new report from DigiTimes claims that the new generation 3D Touch components for the anticipated OLED iPhone 8 are allegedly 150% more expensive than the current generation units. It appears that the 3D Touch component of the new iPhone will require an additional glass panel on the front and rear side of the display. While the current generation 3D Touch component costs $7-9 per iPhone, the new components will supposedly be priced at $18-22 per iPhone 8. Read more here.

BlackBerry and TCL launches the KEYone for AED 1999 in the UAE

TCL has officially debuted the availability of the BlackBerry KEYone Android smartphone at the BlackBerry Store in Dubai Mall. The smartphone, which is priced at AED 1999, will be available for purchase from 27th May 2017. The device features a 4.5-inch display with 3:2 aspect ratio. One of the main features of the KEYone is its built-in keyboard with support for swipe gestures. The space bar houses the fingerprint scanner and the keys can be programmed for shortcuts. The device also holds a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB Type-C port. The battery has a capacity of 3505 mAh. KEYone is powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB RAM and Android 7.1.1 OS. The camera on the rear features a 12MP image sensor and the front camera holds an 8MP sensor for selfies. Read more here.

Nokia 3310 to arrive in the UAE soon

HMD Global has officially announced the availability of the iconic remake of Nokia 3310 feature phone for the UAE region. The device will hit the stores starting June 1st 2017 for just AED 199. The feature phone was initially announced earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress 2017 event. Nokia 3310 offers users with all all-day battery life and will allow to make calls, listen to music and play games on a single charge. The Nokia 3310 will come in Warm Red, Yellow, Dark Blue, and Grey colors. Read more here.

Sony to announce new flagship smartphones at IFA 2017

While the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs just entered the market, new rumors suggest that Sony is preparing to launch two new smartphones with flagship specifications at the IFA 2017 event. The new smartphones, namely the Xperia XZ1 and the Xperia XZ1 Compact and is expected to be powered with the Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB RAM. The compact version of the Xperia XZ1 could feature a 4.6-inch display and 2800 mAh battery. The bigger 5.2-inch Xperia XZ1 is expected to feature a 3000 mAh battery. There will also be a new smartphone called the Xperia X1 with Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB RAM and a 2800 mAh battery. Read more here.

Careem launches courier delivery service for the UAE

Popular cab-hailing app service Careem has officially announced their entry into the courier delivery service with the launch of the BOX. The new service is fine-tuned to pick up and deliver all your important documents and allowing users to track the delivery and the status using the app. The base fare for the service is AED 6, while the minimum fare for instant deliveries is AED 20. BOX accepts deliveries within 5km and will initially be available for users in Dubai. Read more information here.

Samsung Gulf launches premium QLED TVs in the UAE

Leading electronics maker Samsung has officially launched their latest in display technology QLED TVs at the Experience Store in Dubai Media C          ity. The new TVs features improved colors with 100% color volume and a peak luminescence at 1500 nits. The displays also use Samsung’s exclusive “Invisible Connection” cable arrangement in which, all of the cables from different devices can be gathered and connected to the TV without creating a mess. The new Samsung QLED TV is priced at AED 34,999 and AED 16,999 for the 75-inch and 65-inch display sizes, respectfully.

LG officially launches Signature OLED TV W for the UAE region

LG Gulf has officially introduced the ultra-premium Signature OLED TV W in the UAE. The new televisions feature a “picture-on-Wall”, thanks to its razor-thin profile with 3mm of thickness. The new Signature OLED supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR technology. Its revolutionary pixel dimming technology helps to bring in deep blacks without any light leakage.
