According to the latest leaks by Evan Blass, LG is considering to include big design changes for the upcoming LG V30 smartphone. Several alleged render images reveal that the device features a slider design that’s similar to the BlackBerry Priv, except for the fact that there is a large secondary display in place of the physical keyboard area.

However, Blass mentions that the leaked renders are based on older mock-ups of the LG V30, so it’s not clear if LG is still following the same design language. The secondary screen concept as seen on the renders can double as a keyboard, quick shortcuts, controls for the video player, more options for each application and also can act as a screen extension for the main display for a wide-angle viewing experience. It should be noted that the earlier LG V20 had a secondary ticker display above the main display.

It’s no surprise that LG is thinking of aggressive designs to complement the secondary display. Earlier this year, LG had announced the G6 flagship smartphone that features a 5.7-inch display with thin bezels. Despite the larger display size, the G6 is one of the smallest smartphones with that kind of screen estate. Check our review of the LG G6 here.

While there is no legit information on the specifications of the device, the LG V30 smartphone is expected to be announced at the IFA 2017 event, later this year.
