During the WWDC 2017 event, Apple unveiled their latest iterations of the iPad Pro line-up, one with a 10.5-inch display and the new 12.9-inch screen model. Apple claims that the new iPad Pro tablets feature “the most advanced displays on the planet” called True Tone, along with slimmer bezels. The new displays come with 600 nits of brightness and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The tablets care claimed to offer over 10 hours of battery life. The new iPad Pro 10.5 and 12.9 tablets are powered by the Apple A10X processor with 30% improvements in speed over the previous generation. As a part of the new IOS 11, users will be able to drag and drop files and images between applications along with adjustable multi-window setup. Apple also unveiled the new iOS 11 software update for Apple iPhones and iPads. The new features include iMessage with new stickers, emojis, and improved synchronization across multiple Apple devices. Apple also adds the one-handed keyboard mode, a new control center with new looks, support for new compression formats, better language translations, do not disturb, indoor maps for shopping malls and more. Apple also officially entered the smart speaker market with the introduction of the Siri-powered HomePod speaker. The device features a circular design with a mesh-like material and is powered by seven beam-forming tweeters, a woofer, and multi-channel echo cancellation system. The device comes with the Apple A8 processor and uses Siri to interact with users. Multi-speaker configuration is also supported so users can use multiple HomePods at a time. OnePlus has officially declared the launch date of their anticipated OnePlus 5 smartphone. The device will be announced on June 20th and is confirmed to feature a dual-lens camera. The smartphone is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB RAM. However, there are certain rumors which suggest that OnePlus 5 will also be released in an 8GB RAM model with 128GB of internal storage. HMD, the company responsible for handling Nokia smartphones, officially confirmed that all the Nokia Android smartphones that were announced this year will be getting the Android O software update. This a great move by HMD to keep up with the competition and to offer users the latest software updates. However, Google has yet to make the official rollout of Android O update that is expected later this year. Android O will feature improved background process, wider color gamut for applications, adaptive icons, improved notification controls and more. While the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ remain to be one of the best Android flagship smartphones in the market, the company is prepared to unveil the new Note8 smartphone later this year. The latest leaked images suggest that the Note8 features a vertical dual-lens camera on the rear and an infinity-like display on the front. Since the fingerprint scanner is not seen on the rear side, it’s possible that Samsung will be integrating the scanner within the main display, just like how Apple plans for the upcoming Apple iPhone 8.
