Microsoft today unveiled the most powerful console in the world for $499. The new console is aimed to deliver native 4K gaming experience for console gamers.

At its E3 press conference today, Microsoft finally unveiled the Xbox One X, which it claims to be the “most powerful console” ever released. The Xbox One X will release on November 7 in select countries for a price tag of $499.

Microsoft claims the Xbox One X is the fastest and most powerful console ever built, faster than the Sony PlayStation 4 Pro, and it has the facts to back it up. Below are the complete hardware specifications of the machine:

  • 6 teraflops GPU clocked at 1.172Ghz
  • 12 gigabits of GDDR5 memory
  • 326GB/s of memory bandwidth
  • 8 million plus pixels
  • HDR
  • Wide color gamut
  • Premium Dolby Atmos sound
  • 4K UHD Blu-ray playback

Xbox One X is not just built for 4K gaming. According to Microsoft, even if you don’t have a 4K TV, the system will improve 1080p game performance with supersampling as well as decrease loading times. The console is also completely backward compatible with all previous Xbox One games, with the entire library of old games set to receive a free 4K upgrade in the coming months.

Microsoft says that the Xbox One X is the smallest console it has built, even smaller than the Xbox One S which took a serious hit in size and form factor when compared to the original chunky Xbox One. Interestingly, the Xbox One X will include a liquid-cooled vapor chamber which is usually used with servers and high-end PC cards.

It isn’t clear when the Xbox One X will release in the UAE.
