After all the numerous leaks and rumors, the OnePlus 5 finally goes official with the latest mobile processor from Qualcomm, huge memory configurations and dual-lens camera for a price that’s lower than most of the flagship smartphones in the market.
The new smartphone packs the Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB RAM for the 64GB storage model. There is also a 128GB model of the OnePlus 5 that features a whopping 8GB DDR4 RAM on-board, which is the highest among all Android smartphones. It should be noted that there is no MicroSD card slot. The operating system that runs on the device is the Android 7.1.1 with Oxygen OS.
The OnePlus 5 comes with dual-lens camera configuration, one with a 16MP image sensor with a fast f/1.7 aperture with electronic image stabilization and the other is a 20MP image sensor for the telephoto mode with a f/2.6 aperture. The camera on the front also holds a 16MP image sensor with an f2 lens. The battery on the smartphone offers a decent 3300 mAh capacity with Dash Charge, which is OnePlus’s way of saying that it has fast charge support with the USB Type-C port.
The device measures 7.25mm thick and feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution. The device also features a fingerprint scanner on the front side with a 0.2s speed for finger recognition. Despite the impressive specifications, the OnePlus 5 lacks waterproof and dust resistance and wireless charging capabilities.
The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The OnePlus 5 will be sold at $480 (AED 1763) for the 64GB version and $540 (AED 1983) for the 128GB model. However, there is no official word yet on the availability of the OnePlus 5 in the UAE.
