Rumors have been already buzzing that Samsung might unveil its latest flagship, the Galaxy Note8, sometime in August this year. But a new source, which cites a Samsung official, pretty much cements the rumor. According to a new report, Samsung will unveil the new Galaxy Note on August 26 in a special event in New York.
A late August unveil means that Samsung is at least aiming to create a buzz before Apple finally announces the new round of iPhones, and it’s also a few weeks late as compared to last year’s ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 launch.
Regardless of the when and what of the announcement, it is assured that the Galaxy Note8 will be a powerhouse of a smartphone. Rumour has it that the handset will sport a 6.3” Infinity Display, dual cameras, an on-screen fingerprint scanner, AKG-tuned stereo speakers, a textured Bixby button, and some nifty upgrades to the S-Pen like a built-in vibrator to make it easier to find.
Samsung is also reportedly using the Snapdragon 836 processor to power the device. The CPU will feature eight cores and are clocked at 2.5Ghz. Also, to avoid past mistakes, Samsung might be using batteries made by LG Chem for the Galaxy Note8, instead of the ones built by the company itself.
