TCL/BlackBerry’s recent release of the KEYone Android smartphone has caught up interest among many BlackBerry fans and users with positive reviews online. According to Evan Blass, two new BlackBerry branded smartphones are being developed, codenamed Juno and Krypton.
Apart from the information that these devices are being made, details regarding the specifications are not known at the moment and whether these devices will feature a built-in keyboard and if it will run on the Google Android operating system. A few months ago, the CEO of BlackBerry hinted that an Android powered BlackBerry tablet is being planned to be released later this year. Another device that was launched recently is the BlackBerry Aurora with Dual-SIM support. However, this device wasn’t released yet in the UAE market.
It’s still not evident whether TCL will be the one to manufacture the new BlackBerry Juno and Krypton smartphones. It should also be noted that there are still many BlackBerry users who are waiting for a new device based on the BlackBerry 10 OS platform. The last BB10 smartphone released was the BlackBerry Leap. It’s also possible that BlackBerry has completely abandoned the BB10 platform and to focus on Android devices, which are the only software platform that competes head-on with the Apple iPhones.
