While earlier rumors suggested that the Apple iPhone 8 will come with an embedded fingerprint scanner within the display, a new report from Bloomberg suggests that the company is looking into replacing the fingerprint scanner with a 3D based facial recognition scanner. The development of the new facial recognition scanner is in its advanced stages. The device is also expected to come with an OLED display and slim bezels. Other rumors claim that the device may feature wireless charging capabilities and will also come with the ProMotion display technology that’s seen on the latest Apple iPad Pro tablets. Samsung has unveiled a new addition to the J-series devices called the Galaxy J5 Pro. While the new device looks similar to the older Galaxy J5, the J5 Pro features a faster processor, more RAM and a fingerprint sensor. The processor is the octa-core Exynos 7870 with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The device runs on the latest Android 7.1 operating system. The camera on the rear is 13MP with f1.7 aperture. According to the latest reports, Samsung is planning to release the mini version of the Galaxy S8. Rumors suggest that the display of the alleged Galaxy S8 Mini is said to be 5.3-inches in size with an aspect ratio of 18:5:9, thanks to the thin bezels. This means that the new device will feature a smaller size while retaining a big display. This is the same case with the Samsung Galaxy S8 which features slim dimensions while holding a large 5.8-inch display. However, the processor is said to be the Snapdragon 821 with 4GB RAM. According to Evan Blass, LG is preparing to unveil a new version of the LG G6 smartphone with a smaller display and dimensions. While it can be called as the LG G6 Mini, Evan Blass says that the device will be sold as the LG Q6 smartphone. The new device will have a similar design with slim bezels with 18:5:9 aspect ratio. However, Blass mentions that the Q6 will not hold a dual-lens camera on the rear, and instead will feature a single-lens camera. While the processor is unknown as of now, the device will come with 3GB RAM. We can guess that LG will be unveiling the LG Q6 at the IFA 2017 event, which is scheduled in September. It appears like Sony is getting ready to showcase a new bezel-less smartphone at the IFA 2017. The rumor comes from a Weibo post and will be using the 6-inch Full Active Display that was announced by JDI (Japan Display). JDI is owned by Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi. It’s quite possible that Sony will implement the same display for a new Xperia smartphone. The display features an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a 1440 x 2560 resolution. Interestingly, the new display from JDI allows users to use the display with wet hands. Sony is also expected to unveil the Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia X1 smartphone at the IFA 2017. A trusted source from XDA Developers community suggested that the upcoming LG V30 smartphone may come with an OLED panel and that the secondary ticker display will be removed. If the rumor is true, then the LG V30 will be the first V series smartphone to be released without a secondary ticker display and the first LG smartphone with a full-screen OLED display. The device is also said to come with wireless charging, however, the smartphone may not have a removable back panel. The display is said to be 5.7-inches in size.
