During the days of the Symbian and Windows Phone mobile platform, Nokia used to sell the best smartphone cameras in the market that featured high-quality ZEISS lens. As a matter of fact, the glass maker has hit a deal with HMD Global to feature the upcoming Nokia Android smartphones with ZEISS lenses.
This means that Nokia will be in direct competition towards the likes of Samsung, LG, Apple, HTC, Huawei and Sony who has some of the best smartphone cameras on the market today. There are some rumors that the upcoming Nokia 8 could feature a dual-lens camera setup, although, it’s still not yet confirmed if the lens will be from ZEISS.
“Collaborating with ZEISS is an important part of our commitment to always deliver the very best experience for our customers. Our fans want more than a great smartphone camera, they want a complete imaging experience that doesn’t just set the standard but redefines it. Our fans expect it and, together with ZEISS, we’re delivering it – co-developed imaging excellence for all,” said Arto Numella, CEO of HMD Global.
The new collaboration of HMD Global and ZEISS is seriously good news for smartphone based photographers and Nokia fans alike who have been waiting for great smartphone cameras. Some of the most notable smartphones with ZEISS lens include the Nokia 808 PureView with the 41MP sensor and f2.4 Carl Zeiss lens and the Lumia 1020 Windows Phone 10 smartphone with f2.2 Carl Zeiss lens.
