While HMD Global has officially returned the iconic brand with the release of the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 mid-range smartphones, many have been patiently waiting to see a Nokia-branded flagship smartphone. With all the rumors have been lately circulating, the latest reports claim that the Nokia 8 may likely see a launch by the end of July.
The information comes from a German website WinFuture (who are considered to be reliable when it’s about proper release dates), the Nokia 8 goes with the model number as TA-1004. According to recent rumors, the Nokia 8 is said to feature the latest Snapdragon 835 chip with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device is expected to run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box. However, HMD Global did confirm that Nokia smartphone will receive the Android O update at a later point of the year. The flagship will also reportedly hold support for Dual-SIM.
The screen may likely be 5.3-inches in size with Quad HD resolution, 1440 x 2560 to be exact along with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Previous rumors suggested that the rumored Nokia 9 may hold an OLED panel, so it’s likely that it could be the same for the Nokia 8.
One of the best features that are expected is the inclusion of a dual-lens camera on the rear side of the device. Not too long ago, there were several leaks about Nokia working on two different flagship devices: the Nokia 8 and Nokia 9. While both the Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 was said to include the dual-lens camera setup, the Nokia 8 would be featuring a fingerprint scanner on the front side of the device and the Nokia 9 with a rear facing fingerprint sensor along with the camera lens.
That being said, it's highly possible that the main camera of the Nokia 8 may sport ZEISS branded high-quality lens. HMD Global and ZEISS have already signed a deal to equip future Nokia smartphones with ZEISS lens and camera technology.
Whether HMD Global plans to release the Nokia 9 as a separate flagship or that it is a canceled device is yet to be known. For now, the latest reports claim that the upcoming smartphone to be launched by the end of July is the Nokia 8. The source also hints that the Nokia 8 will be priced at 589 Euros (AED 2480). If this price holds true, then the Nokia 8 will have a slightly upper edge above most of the Android flagships in the market. We will let you know once the UAE availability and pricing is officially announced.
