Popular PC gaming peripheral maker Razer is expected to unveil a new smartphone that’s said to be targeted at hardcore gamers with “Unique Mobile Design and Experiences”. This comes months after the acquisition of Nextbit. The company has now revealed plans that will go for an IPO of $5 billion for expanding in China.
This new funding will further boost the development of the smartphone among the other peripherals that they plan to release and the new IPO is expected to be one among the biggest debuts in the Asian financial market. While there is not much information on the specifications of the device, we guess that the smartphone comes could be powered by any of the latest processors and GPU, such as the Snapdragon 835 processor and the Adreno 540 GPU. This could be the case if the device runs on Android. However, the smartphone may not come with Windows platform because you would need a powerful GPU to run the latest PC games.
It would be interesting to see that Razer may release the smartphone with built in joysticks to compete with the likes of Android handheld console makers. One, in particular, is the NVIDIA Shield tablets and consoles that run on the latest Tegra processors with GeForce graphics technology. Over two years ago, Razer had released a Windows-powered tablet called the Edge Pro, that came with built-in joysticks on either side of the device and was powered by powerful hardware. The device was capable of running most of the PC games, thanks to the Intel i7 processor and the discrete NVIDIA GT640M GPU. It also featured a 10.6-inch display with a screen resolution of 1366 x 768.
Razer also makes some premium and ultra-thin gaming laptops with exclusive features not seen on other devices. One of the latest models is the Razer Blade that features a 14-inch Full HD display or 4K resolutions as per the user’s choice with touchscreen options. The processor is the Intel i7-6700HQ processor and the NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU and 16GB DDR4 RAM on-board. The laptop also features a Samsung 256GB nVME SSD with Windows 10. The Razer Chrome lighting allows users to individually light up the keys with different colors, remap the keys and personalize your lighting effects. The laptop also holds the fast Thunderbolt 3 port for lighting speed data transfers. The laptop is 17.9mm thick and weighs 1.86g. There is also the Razer Blade Stealth that features a 12.5-inch screen, the Intel i7-6500U chip, 8GB DDR4, integrated Intel GPU and a Samsung branded nVME SSD.
