At the Sofitel Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa in Dubai, Samsung Gulf has officially introduced the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, featuring advanced cameras that are touted to deliver improved low-light, new ways to create emojis with AR, faster hardware and more. The new smartphones were recently unveiled at the MWC 2018 event.
“The way we use our smartphones has changed as communication and self-expression have evolved,” stated by Tarek Sabbagh, the Head of IT and Mobile (IM) Division at Samsung Gulf. “The Galaxy S9 and S9+ enable consumers to shoot great photos and videos anywhere, it’s a smartphone that’s designed to help them connect with others and express themselves in a way that’s unique and personal to them; we have reimagined the smartphone camera for today’s generation and the way they communicate, helping them unlock powerful experiences and share them effortlessly.”
As smartphone cameras are quite capable, Samsung takes it to the next level by introducing an aperture of F1.5 for its main primary cameras of the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 Plus. The main camera of the Galaxy S9 features a 12MP single-lens shooter with a variable aperture of F1.5 and F2.4. The bigger Galaxy S9 Plus features a dual-lens camera setup, one of which comes with a 12MP wide-angle shooter and the other is also a 12MP shooter but stays behind a tele-photo lens. And with the Dual-Pixel sensor technology, the camera will be able to shoot brilliant images with fast autofocus. Both the smartphones share the same 8MP front-facing camera with F1.7 aperture.
While there are smartphones with 960fps slo-motion video capture, the new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus features automatic Motion detection, so that the video will be recorded when any movement is detected by any subject. You can also create and edit as GIF files and share them socially. Samsung’s newest feature is called the AR Emoji, that lets you create emojis by simply scanning the user’s face. The scanned 3D image can be presented with different expressions and personalities. You can share them on social media apps.
Samsung also updated their artificial platform to Bixby 2.0, featuring better deep learning technologies, object and scene recognition, and live translation capability. Samsung has also implemented dual speakers, tuned by AKG, along with support for Dolby Atmos for 360-degree sound effects.
Samsung’s revolutionary Infinity Display gets better with deeper blacks for its Super AMOLED panel. Both the smartphones feature Quad HD+ resolution with 18:5:9 wide aspect ratio. The display is 5.8-inches on the Galaxy S9 and 6.2-inch on the Galaxy S9 +. The smartphones are also IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. These devices are powered by the latest Exynos 9810 octa-core processor with 4GB RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo. Apart from the 64GB of internal storage, the MicroSD card slot also supports up to 400GB of expandable storage. Samsung has also relocated the fingerprint scanner under the rear camera module. The device offers Iris and face scanning capability. The Samsung Galaxy S9 features a 3000 mAh battery, while the bigger Galaxy S9+ holds a 3500 Mah battery.
