Apple has officially announced its 2018 edition MacBook Pro models, featuring the latest Intel 8th generation processors for greater performance and several improvements with respect to efficiency.
The new Intel processors are sure to deliver higher performance gains, thanks to the extra cores available. These quad-core processors used are a part of Intel’s latest ultra-low power processors used in most Windows laptops and ultrabooks. And in order to achieve better efficiency, Apple has opted to use LPDDR3 RAM that takes in lesser power consumption than the regular DDR4 memory chips. Both the Apple MacBook Pro for the 13-inch and the 15-inch models, come with Touch Bar that’s used as an extra input unit. The 13-inch model features IPS displays with a resolution of 2560 X 1600. The laptops come with 256GB SSD as the starting storage option and can be configurable up to 1TB and 2TB PCIe SSD. However, keep in mind that a 512GB SSD upgrade will cost you AED 840, a 1TB SSD for 2520 AED and a 2TB SSD for AED 5880.
The 13-inch MacBooks also come with 8GB DDR3 as the starting option and with 2133 MHz speeds. Users will be able to configure it to 16GB RAM for AED 840. While the standard model comes with two Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C ports, the Touch Bar version comes with four of these ports. The prices start at AED 7499 for the 13-inch Touch Bar model that features the quad-core Intel i5-8259U chip and a 256GB SSD. Users will be able to upgrade to the quad-core i7-8559U processor for an extra AED 1260.
On the other hand, the 15-inch Touch Bar model packs more powerful hardware under its hood, and for the first time, we see MacBook Pro models that feature hexacore processors. We are talking about the Intel Core i7-8750H, featuring six cores and twelve computing threads in total. And if that power isn’t enough, users are given the option to upgrade to the Intel i9-8950HK processor for AED 1680. Unlike the MacBook Pro 13-inch models with DDR3 memory, the 15-inch flavors are equipped with 16GB DDR4 and you will be able to upgrade to 32GB DDR4 for AED 1680.
These new models are also equipped with the option to upgrade to a 4TB SSD for AED 14280. The GPU that comes with the default configuration is the AMD Radeon Pro 550X with 4GB GDDR5, and with AED 420, you will be able to upgrade to the faster Radeon Pro 560X GPU. The 15-inch 2018 MacBook Pro prices start at AED 9999 for the 256GB SSD model and AED 11679 for the 512GB SSD model.
The new MacBook Pro models also feature the T2 chip made by Apple for enhanced secure boots and help in encrypted storage. The new chip also allows users to call out Siri for the first time on a MacBook Pro. The Retina display on these models features support for P3 wide color gamut and with 500 nits of brightness. Additionally, the True Tone technology helps to deliver a natural viewing experience for design and editing jobs along with everyday tasks such as email and web browsing.
