Sony Middle East has officially announced the latest iteration of the RX100 compact professional series with the launch of the RX100 Mark 6 in the UAE. The new camera features a longer focal length while it maintains most of the impressive features of the previous model. The camera is set to be available at the KANSAS, the Sony Camera Store Partner at the Mall of the Emirates, the Sony Centre at The Dubai Mall and all the other key retail stores in the UAE by next month July. The camera is officially priced at AED 4899.
The RX100 VI is the very first in the series to include a 24-200mm F2.8 to F4.5 aperture, giving users the portability and flexibility of a compact camera with high-range zoom along with impressive image quality, thanks to the 20.1MP 1-inch Exmor RS CMOS sensor with DRAM chip. The camera also houses the upgraded BIONZ X image processor and a front-end LSI that helps to maximise processing speed and produce the best results. Along with it is the fast and efficient Fast Hybrid AF system, featuring 315 points of phase detection on the sensor that is claimed to focus as low as 0.03 seconds. The continuous burst mode is an impressive 24fps and users will be able to keep shooting up to 233 images without losing a moment, thanks to the large buffer.
Shuichi Mugitani, the Head of Marketing at Sony Middle East and Africa said that: “The strength of Sony is that we develop all key camera components such as advanced image sensors, image processors, lenses and software algorithms in-house. The new RX100 VI is the latest in the premium compact RX series, with advanced capabilities that combine extensive zoom, professional image quality and the versatility for still image and video. The sleek design and long zoom lens make it particularly useful for travel and lifestyle photography enthusiasts. Given the growing number of travel and lifestyle bloggers in the UAE, we believe this product will be a valuable addition to the premium compact camera segment, setting a new benchmark in performance, functionality and design.”
Furthermore, the lens features built-in Optical SteadyShotTM image stabilisation is improved to an equivalent of 4.0-stop faster shutter speed. This helps to avoid all the shakes and blurs that happens while shooting still images or recording videos. The camera is also the series to feature Sony’s advanced High-density Tracking AF technology, which focuses AF points around a subject to improve tracking and accuracy. The Eye AF technology is also included with approximately 2x the tracking performance as compared to the previous models. The camera also allows LCD touch focusing and touchpad focus point control for users who would like to drag their fingers to their ideal choice of focus points.
This pocket-friendly camera is packed with a range of video capabilities that will keep even the most demanding video enthusiasts happy. In its 4K mode, the new RX100 Mark 6 utilises a full pixel readout of the image sensor without pixel binning, ensuring that all the finer details of the 4K video content are captured with minimal moire and ‘jaggies’ effects. And for the first time in a CyberShot camera, the RX100 VI features 4K HDR, thanks to the new HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) picture profile for instant HDR workflow. Additional video features include S-Log3/S-Gamut3, Picture Profile, and more. The RX100 VI is capable to record super slow-motion videos at 240fps, 480 fps or 960 fps.
