While the usual 2-in-1 laptops are slim, lightweight and affordable, they were never meant for use in harsh environments that require rugged designs. Luckily, Panasonic has unveiled a new entry into their ToughBook portfolio called the ToughBook 20, a 10-inch 2-in-1 Windows PC that’s designed for extreme surroundings.
The new laptop’s 10-inch touchscreen with 1920 x 1200 resolution is detachable and is also usable with gloves. The whole device is water resistant and dustproof. Other features include Intel Core M5-6Y57 Skylake series processor with vPro, 8gb RAM, and 128GB SSD storage running Windows 10 Pro. The laptop also sports a 2600 mAh battery in the tablet portion. As for connectivity, the laptop has one USB 3.0, a MicroSDXC card slot, HDMI port, VGA, a full size SDXC card slot in the keyboard portion, and one Ethernet.
Although the laptop is set to release by Feb 2016, the price tag is set for a hefty $3099, which most of the cost goes for the rugged construction.
