Sony has officially introduced a new X series lineup, with three new smartphones to start with- the Xperia X, the Xperia XA, and the Xperia X Performance. These new devices are targeted towards those who prefer performance, or budget -minded people.
Design wise, the new smartphones now possess a metal finish back with “tone-to-tone” painting. That means the finish is seamless for both front and back. The Xperia X seems to be focused towards the youth. The device holds a 5-inch screen. The processor included is the Snapdragon 650 processor, along with 3GB RAM to run Android Marshmallow. The 23MP camera features a predictive hybrid autofocus that allows users to select a target and track the subject continuously. The front camera sensor is 13 megapixels. Sony has included the Xperia X with a 2620 mAh battery.
The Sony Xperia X Performance actually holds a faster Snapdragon 820 processor, along with 3GB RAM. The rest of the specification is the same as the Xperia X, except that the Xperia X Performance is waterproof. Both the smartphones sport the same kind of side-mounted fingerprint scanner as the Xperia Z5 series.
However, the Xperia XA is aimed towards the budget oriented crowd. The device has a 5-inch 720p screen, The processor is a Mediatek branded MT6755 processor, with 2GB RAM. The camera is 13MP on the rear side, and the selfie camera is 8 megapixels. This variant doesn’t sport a fingerprint scanner, not waterproof, and has a lower 2300 mAh battery.
The Sony Xperia X series local pricing and availability is yet to be known.
