Samsung returns to the fitness market with the Gear Fit 2

Samsung has officially unveiled the successor of the Gear Fit fitness tracker called the Gear Fit 2, coming in two different sizes, one for small wrists (125-170mm), and the other large (155-210mm). The wearable features a 1.84-inch curved Super AMOLED display with 432 x 128 resolution.

As the specs go by, the device is powered by a dual-core Samsung 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, and 4GB internal storage. Speaking of internal storage, Samsung says that the Gear Fit 2 is capable of operating as a stand-alone music player. Supported audio formats include MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, M4A, AMR, AWB, OGG, OGA, and even 3GA.

Sensors include GPS, heart rate sensor, gyroscope, barometer, and an accelerometer. The new Samsung Gear Fit 2 is able to auto-track steps, calories, sleep, and also detect the type of exercise you are doing, such as squats, bike riding, or even yoga.

Smartphone syncing features include text, calls, and application notifications. Users will also be able to perform quick replies and emoticons for messages. The new fitness tracker is IP68 certified waterproof that can dive 1.5m deep for 30mins.
