Once again Apple has made its mark in the UAE region by opening not just one, but two different “travel retail” stores at the Dubai International Airport. The new stores are located at the terminal 3, next to the A12 and B15 gates, and are covering a very large footprint of 86 and 70 sq/m distance, respectively, ranking it as the world’s largest travel retail store ever made. Reports indicate that the new shops have brought in an 8% increase in sales, and is expected to rise soon.
“Based on our current sales projections, we expect Apple sales to reach AED220 million (US$61m) this year” stated by Colm McLoughlin, who’s the executive vice chairman and the chief of Dubai Duty Free. He also added that “With the Apple Shop program in Concourse B being the largest in any travel retail in the world, this is a very exciting development for Dubai Duty Free and our customers”.
It wasn’t long ago when Apple opened their first stores at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, and another at Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi.
